Experience: Before moving to Charlotte, Dr. Jaben served as Chief Resident of the residency program and a clinical instructor on the faculty at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. In 1982, Dr. Jaben established his private practice in Charlotte (formerly Laurel Eye Associates) and merged practices with Charlotte Eye Ear Nose & Throat Associates in 1997. He performed the first NO stitch cataract surgery in Charlotte in 1989 and has performed over 28,000 cataract operations in his career. Dr. Jaben is one of two medical directors at the TLC Charlotte Laser Eye Center since its opening in 1997 where he has performed more than 7,500 laser vision correction procedures using the excimer laser for the correction of nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.
Certification/Affiliations: Board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Fellow with the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is an active member of the Mecklenburg County Medical Society and has served as a director on the executive board. He has served two terms as chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at Carolinas Medical Center. He is a member of the American Medical Association and the North Carolina Medical Society. He is a past chairman of the board of directors of the Charlotte chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation International. He is a member of the Union County Diabetes Coalition and in the past has been active on the board of Charlotte Community Health Services and a member of the Dilworth Rotary Club.
Medical staff: Carolinas Medical Center, Presbyterian Hospital, Union Regional Medical Center in Monroe and HealthSouth Surgery Center. He performs surgery regularly at Presbyterian SouthPark Ambulatory Surgery Center, Presbyterian Eye Center, Carolinas Medical Center - Union Outpatient Department, Carolinas Medical Center Outpatient Surgery Department, Presbyterian Hospital Huntersville, and the TLC Laser Eye Center in Charlotte.
Expertise: NO Needle NO Stitch cataract surgery, Implants including ReSTOR / ReZOOM lens replacements, Bladeless Custom Laser Vision Correction surgery, Implantable Contact Lens (ICL) surgery and Comprehensive Ophthalmology. Dr. Jaben sees patients by appointment and for emergency eye care in the SouthPark main office and the Monroe regional office. He also consults on patients at the Huntersville regional office.
